With the possibility of Ebola Virus Disease infections in the continental United States, ARCHANGEL AIRBORNE Leadership approved a special operation to work with regional emergency services in preparation for EVD outbreaks. CEO/CMOIC Hirsch, in his additional role as Director of Operations for Emergency Services, assisted in developing an EVD Special Response Team at Saint Mary's Trauma Center in Waterbury, CT in conjunction with Law Enforcement, Fire and ALS Paramedic services. The focus was intensive HAZMAT training and assembly of volunteers to respond to suspected or actual EVD cases. Acute treatment, isolation and transport paradigms were developed.
